In view of our customers’ need to have predictable setting retarders regarding their use concentration, our R & D department set to work to develop two products that can meet those requirements.
The new cement setting retarders are called ISR-HT L (high temperature) and ISR-LT L (low temperature). Both are synthetic products specially designed to cover a range of downhole circulation temperatures that reach up to 178ºC.
New product benefits
This type of product, contrary to other retarders, has several benefits, to wit:
- Good predictability of the results presenting an almost linear behavior.
- Low responsiveness to different cement brands.
- High level of getting same results from batch to batch.
- Low responsiveness to use concentration regarding conventional retarders.
The amount of product to be used will be evaluated according to the well conditions and design. Such product can be used in concentrations from 0.2% to 1%, based on the weight of dry cement.
Below there appear some charts with real application data of these new products. We hope that they will be useful to our clients, facilitating the design of slurries where the use of retarders is required.
