Last Friday, August 9th, we conducted a workshop together with Y-TEC, which is an Argentine leading company in the development of technologies for the energy industry.
The event took place at our operational base in Vista Alegre, Neuquén, where we presented the new products that ISI has developed for the Oil and Gas industry in Argentina. This event not only allowed participants to closely observe technological advancements but also strengthened relationships with key companies in the sector.
ISI Oilfield Chemicals and Y-TEC’s technology workshop
The workshop began with an introduction delivered by ISI’s Commercial Manager, Eng. Marcelo Robiano. Then, Gabriel Bengardini from Y-TEC provided a detailed overview of the collaboration between the two entities in developing new technologies for upstream.
Gabriel Giménez, ISI’s Commercial Leader in the Neuquén and Cuyo Basins, explained the Y-POLYplug system and he highlighted its properties and applications. Heraldo Oyarzún, from ISI’s commercial team in Neuquén, continued with the presentation of Y-PROP Gd and its main features. Such product is the first resin-coated proppant developed in Argentina.
The event included a Q&A session where attendees had the opportunity to enquire about and delve deeper into the topics discussed. Finally, Pedro Alarcón, ISI’s Laboratory Leader, conducted a guided tour, where participants looked around the facilities and received a detailed explanation of technology practical operations. Representatives from various companies in the sector attended and showed great interest in the innovations presented.
Networking: a business opportunity
This event was the springboard for future collaborations. Besides, we established valuable contacts with service-operating companies such as Pluspetrol, Tecpetrol, Chevron, Halliburton, Jacwell, Calfrac, ZMC, and El Tronador, among others. Additionally, there is the possibility of using our Vista Alegre laboratory for further testing carried out in collaboration with Y-TEC.
At ISI Oilfield Chemicals, we reaffirm our commitment to innovation and quality in the oil and gas industry. The introduction of these technologies represents a significant advance towards greater efficiency, safety, and sustainability in upstream operations. Having active participation and paying closed attention to these solutions, we foresee that the future of the industry will bring new opportunities and challenges.
Discover new Upstream technologies
During the workshop, two key technologies that are making a significant impact on the upstream sector.were presented.
- Y-POLYplug
Y-POLYplug is an advanced polymeric system developed by Y-TEC in collaboration with ISI. Its formula combines Epoxy, Butadiene, and Polyurethane which results in a product with exceptional elastic and adhesive properties. It provides superior resistance to thermal and mechanical fatigue so it is a more effective and durable sealing barrier for primary, secondary, and well abandonment cementing applications.
One of the main advantages of Y-POLYplug is its ability to handle Sustained Annular Pressure (SAP) which ensures that the sealing barrier remains in place even after multiple fractures. Additionally, its versatility allows it to adapt to various operating conditions.
- Y-PROP Gd: Traceable Proppant
Y-PROP Gd is a resin-coated proppant that marks a milestone in national production, being the first proppant of its kind developed and produced in Argentina. It is made from resin-coated natural sand or ceramic agents and it meets the strict specifications of the API STD 19C 2018 standard. Its resin formulation enhances support during hydraulic fracturing, which garantees efficient pressure distribution and fracture opening.
A standout feature of Y-PROP Gd is its traceability, achieved through the incorporation of Gadolinium, which allows users its detection with conventional neutron logging tools. This facilitates accurate tracking and evaluation of the proppant performance, thereby optimizing stimulation operations in both vertical and horizontal wells.
